Black and white damask wedding, need an accent color!?
I had my heart set on a black and white damask wedding with blue accents (flowers, ribbon on invite, and BM dresses) but I like the steal/periwinkle blue as opposed to tiffany or electric blue and am afraid it will be too dull with black and white. I also LOVE the idea of purple but my sister says that's what she's thinking for her wedding in 2010 so I don't want to step on toes (even though I expressed the idea first and she said she'll probably change her mind anyways-I'm afraid she's just saying this). Green is another option but my fiance isn't crazy about it. Your suggestions in the blue-green-purple color pallate would be greatly appreciated!
With a black and white palette you can pretty much use any color you like for an accent. If you want to have purple for the accent, then have it--I promise you that NO ONE will remember if you and your sister have the same colors for your weddings--I know my sister and I did (because our weddings were 3 months apart) and no one noticed. Get swatches of fabric you're considering, and look at them with your damask (or are you thinking toile?) and see what you think. If you've selected venues, that might help you decide--because you also have to work within the color palette of existing space. Also, remember lighting as well, and it will change the looks of many colors--particularly purples look black in dim lighting. IN the end though, remember it's YOUR wedding, if you like it and it's not hurting anyone's feelings, then go for it! Good luck!
