Wedding invitation help?
I am looking for cheap wedding invitations online. Does anyone know of any websites that have resonable invitations? Also I really would like a ribbon on the invitation any ideas of websites I can visit?
The cheapest way to get this sort of invite is probably to make them yourself.
You can make them using a program as simple as a wrod processing program.
Here's and easy and cheap way to make them
1. open your word processor (like microsoft word or wordperfect)
Go to File>document setup
set all the margins so they are 1/2 inch.
then go to Format>columns
a new box will open - set it to 2 columns with a 1" width between them.
Now type in the text for your wedding invitation and center it as best you can.
With your mouse cursor highlight the entire text.
Choose Edit>Copy (or CNTRL+C)
Set your cursor to go to the next column and choose Edit>Paste (or CNTRL+V)
Make sure both columns are centered.
2. Go out and buy some 81/2" by 11" cardstock and some 8 1/2 by 11" decorative paper to match the wedding theme. Also some ribbon to match the paper. A good place to buy some really cool paper for these invitations is a craft store Liek Michaels, A.C. Moore, or even Joann's fabrics. Look in the scrapbooking aisle to find the paper. If they are not 8 1/2" by 11" don't sweat it.
3. Next head on over to a local copy shop. The independently run businesses are usually MUCH better than Staples or Kinkos.
Make sure you go to a shop that has a paper cutting service. Prefferably they will have a hydraulic cutter. This service is generally VERY cheap.
Have your invitation text copied onto the decorative paper.
If it is larger than 8 1/2" by 11" than just have them cut it down to size before they copy it.
Next have them cut the cardstock in half to make two cards per sheet sized at 8 1/2 by 5 1/2". Then have them cut the decorative paper in half as well and trim about 1/4" to 1/2" around the edges so it id slightly smaller sized than the cardstock.
4. to put the invitation together use a very small paper punch, or even a large needle to thread the ribbon through. Tie both pieces of paper together so that the decorative paper is centered onto the cardstock. Tie the ribbon into a bow and snip off any loose ends.
For an easier way to finish it, just attatch the decorative paper to the cardstock with a gluestick making sure to center it as best you can. Then tie the ribbon bows and glue them on with some Elmer's.
