Would you rather have a high end silver or gold plated writing pen?
If it's a REAL pen (the kind you have to fill with ink), then one with a gold nib is ALWAYS better than silver. I have one that was given to me as a gift; its body is made of cherry wood 
If it's just a ballpoint pen, then I'd go for the silver; it's more durable than gold, since gold is so soft.
